SCMC, LLC was formed in 2008 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Seneca Holdings, the financial arm of the Seneca Nation of Indians.
The Seneca Nation of Indians, one of the six nations of the Iroquois Confederacy, continues to occupy sovereign land set aside by the Treaty of Canandaigua in 1794. It traditionally controlled trade and protected the Western territories, earning the title “Keeper of the Western Door.” The Seneca Nation currently has over 7,700 enrolled members and holds title to five territories in Western New York, including territories in Niagara Falls and Buffalo.
The Nation operates a “good-neighbor” policy under which it seeks to expand its relations with groups, governments, charities, private and public corporations that wish to interact collaboratively with the Nation. Through the enterprises of the Nation, revenues are generated that provide necessary employment opportunities, services and programs to tribal members, especially its youth and elder population.
